Mr. T and the Case of the Missing Butt

You ever see someone crushing heavy lifts with all the determination in the world—but none of the right muscles firing?

Meet Mr. T -  flat butt, skinny legs, knees like spaghetti.

He didn’t need a new workout plan—he needed a muscle intervention.

Mr. T came to me frustrated. He’d been grinding through dodgy deadlifts for years, following his PT’s cues like a good soldier—but it was all pain, no gains.

His words?

“My muscles are totally f*cked.”

(And honestly? He wasn’t wrong.)

From the outside: flat butt, skinny legs, knees that buckled like they’d never met a squat rack.

From the inside? A disaster zone of compensation.

🧠 What I Found:

  • Fascia latae? Gone. Checked out. Nowhere to be found.

  • Glutes? On an extended coffee break—barely showing up.

  • And doing all the work?

A teeny, tiny piriformis—a deep stabilizer muscle that should support the team, not carry the whole damn load.

He was trying to lift like a legend—with a system that wasn’t firing right. No wonder his body fought him every rep.

💪 What We Did:

I got hands-on and went straight for the root.

Targeted deep structures. Released the chronic tension.

Corrected the muscular imbalance and reactivated his posterior chain—not just with theory, but with pressure, palpation, and precision.

When we finished?

His glutes were online, awake, and finally doing their job.

And Mr. T?

He finally got his butt to join the workout.

💡 The Takeaway:

You can train all you want, but if your muscles aren’t firing in the right sequence, you’re building dysfunction.

What looks like weakness might be a missed activation issue your PT never touched—because they couldn’t feel what I found.
